STEVE PHILLIPS:

Founder of Phillips Hockey – Professional Powerskating and Hockey Skills Training

Steve Phillips, is a former member of the Tampa Bay Lightning organization and a Master Skill Instructor with 45 years of playing and 25 years of coaching experience. Steve’s Phillips Hockey programs have been dedicated to the developing and educating players of all ages and skill levels since 1997.  His programs have  helped numerous players advance their careers into the Junior A, NCAA Division 1 Collegiate, and Professional levels. Students of Phillips Hockey have competed in over 25 different leagues worldwide and have come from as far as Russia and China for private training with Coach Phillips. Steve is fortunate to have worked with a select few individuals who have also gone on to win some of the most prestigious awards in sports including the Stanley Cup and Olympic Gold Medal.

Steve had spent the last 25 years coaching youth hockey in Southern California and has worked with every level from In-house to 18AAA. Steve also continues to volunteer his time with the various introductory and beginner programs that make a strong effort to introduce the great sport of ice hockey to players of all ages. He is most proud of his work with individuals with autism, deaf athletes, and other special needs individuals who have had the desire and passion to play hockey.

Phillips takes pride in the development of athletes of all ages and believes that hockey is not only a great game, but is also a valuable tool for helping young athletes learn valuable life lessons. He believes that the priority of any team sport should be in the enjoyment of the game, but also believes that players must work hard to compete and improve themselves constantly. Hockey is a team sport and working together with your teammates is essential if you want to be successful. His belief that self-confidence is a product of the individual skill development process and that creating a positive atmosphere for the players is essential in their development as athletes and as individuals.
